All the things that you like about the Bosch 009 distributor, and performance capabilities of the 010 and 050 distributor redesigned into the 009 Style FlameThrower Electronic Distributor! Features include: custom mechanical advance curve for optional performance and drivability; 2:1 improvement over "points" in current fall time for increased coil output; epoxy molding that makes the module impervious to dirt, oil, grease and moisture. Delivers 2X the voltage to the spark plugs, increasing horsepower, fuel economy and spark plug life. Rotating cobalt magnets trigger a Hall Effect integrated circuit-no points to burn and no moving parts to wear out. Distributor has PerTronix ignitor electronic conversion kit built right in. Dimensions: 3.5" x 5.6". Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled vehicles. Also for use with FlameThrower Performance Coil (sold separately). Comes with manufacturer's limited warranty: 30 months electronics/1-year mechanical.

cures the 009 flat spot...,

Pros: match the coil and you are good to go. I battled my 009 flat spot... changing the carb twice. This fixed everything.
Cons: None... it does what it is supposed to.
"Installed on an 1835 with a progressive weber carb and 110 cam. Starts on a bump and idles with a nice burble at 700 rpm. Accelerates smoothly without the dreaded flat spot. I had the carb on before I upgraded to this distributor so I know it is the distributor that made the difference."

Cons: Lack of advance
"The 009 was never installed in a vehicle by the factory for a reason.
Centrifugal advance works with RPM.
From a standing start, there is no RPM.
You can't rev because you're trying to get going.
Therefore, you get the famous "dead spot" poor power and poor mpg.
If you're using this dizzy in a stationary engine, drag racer, or aircraft, go for it. Stick with a vacuum advance. Volkswagen did...."

Pros: works well and imporves the engines perfomrance
Cons: Cap was the wrong size and seal was wrong size
"The distributor arrived quickly and was packaged well.
When I tried to install it the seal was too large. I have installed many aircooled VW distributors and have never had to use as much force as I did with this one. I ended up removing the deck lid so I could have enough room to force it in. At least I can be positive it will never leak oil.
The cap fit did not fit properly and shifted while the engine was running. I installed a cap from Kragen and it works great now. Not a big deal, more annoying than a real problem.
I get better gas mileage and the engine definitely runs better than it did with the stock distributor."
