I would buy again

Pros: Easy installation, good quality
Cons: Supply 2 more nuts and save me a trip to the hardware store
"This hitch (Curt 14053) seems to be of very good quality. Good welds and thick steel. The paint/coating seems good also.
I installed this on an '03 Ford E250 cargo van. It took right at 1 hour. It would have been less, but it took some time to get the carbon canister nuts loose to gain access to one of the holes in the frame (instructions state that this will have to be done). If you are doing this job by yourself 3-4 jackstands are very helpful for holding the hitch in place.
All 6 (3 on each side) of the holes that the instructions show to use lined up perfectly with the existing holes in the frame. It took some trial and error to come up with the right combination of shims/washers so that everything fit snug. I did not use the combination that the instructions suggested. The kit came with 8 bolts of varying styles, but only 6 nuts ( ? ). After I had the 6 bolts tightened that the instructions show, I noticed there was 1 hole on each side that almost lined up with a hole in the frame. I figured 8 bolts would be a lot stronger than 6, so with just a little drilling I was able to install the last 2 bolts the kit came with, but had to go to the hardware store to get a couple of nuts and lock-washers. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying. There were no clearance issues with anything.
My van has a step bumper, so I am going to have to get some 10 1/4" long ball mounts so that the ball will clear my bumper. Overall seems like a good quality receiver hitch for the price.

nice product, tricky install

Pros: well made, looks tough
Cons: installation a bit challenging
"Just bought this receiver so i don't know how well it performs yet, but it looks tough. Installation on '79 ford bronco did require some drilling, as expected. Did not expect to have to "fish" bolts through, over and around gas tank with less than 1" opening to get through. Total install time: 3.5 hours. Well worth it."

Excellent OEM Replacement

Pros: Bolts up in the original OEM bolt holes
Cons: Bolting hardware could be upgraded a bit.
"Settled on "Curt IV" after looking at Drawtite, Reese, & Husky.
My big concern was that it bolt up to the chassi of my 97 Dodge 1 ton without drilling any new holes.
The order was placed and surprise, I had it the next day without paying anything extra for freight.
It bolted right up! It is a little taller than the OEM but, I can adjust the ball height to compensate for it.
A "hitch lock" and cover for no extra charge.
The "best bang for the buck"!
