"This is my second oil pump I have purchased from JC Whitney. My first pump was a cheaper design and lasted about 10 years. I think when I used it to pump brake fluid it killed it...( so dont use for brake fluid). This pump is better in my opinion. I use these pumps mainly for oil changes in rear differentials and transmissions. The only problem I had with this pump so far, happend 5 seconds after I turned it on. The plastic hose on the outlet side came out of the rubber connector at the pump spilling several onces of tranny fluid. I put a hose clamp on the connection and did not have any more trouble."
Pros: primed it self, not expensive, convenient on/off switch
Cons: discharge tub came apart within 5 seconds of startup

"I would not recommend this pump. I just threw mine away after attempting to work with it for a little over a year. It does not self prime as advertised. You have to get the fluid flowing and manually prime the pump."
Pros: None
Cons: Not truly self priming

"Totally useless. It does not have enough suction for self priming. Fittings are non-standard, so you can't use other types of tubing. The outlet tube is 'melted' into a flare type fitting that I had to re-mold myself to get a good seal. Tried the pump today for an oil change. Had to suck the oil up the tube manually to prime the pump - then it pumped really slowly. Don't waste your time - buy ramps and do it properly. The quality is really poor."
Pros: Small size
Cons: Poor suction - not self priming, non-standard tube fittings

"This is a good product. I like the fact that the pump does not need to be primed. Very clean opeation if you have the right length of hose. I would recommend."
Pros: Self priming
Cons: Short intake and discharge hoses.
