"The JCW search engine took me right to this page for 1980 El Camino SS. I don't see any note as to whether or not they fit Auto/manual transmission vehicles, so I tried them. I got them to fit in the car with a little dinging with a ball peen hammer to clear the frame rails, VERY tight on the passenger side!!! Even with a G-force dual exhaust crossover transmission mount I couldn't route the right side exhaust past the clutch linkage on my 4 speed tranny vehicle. I had to take it to a muffler shop and have them specially fabricate a right side collector adapter to clear the clutch linkage. The shop guy says I should have ordered an earlier B body set... oh well."

"installed into a 1978 El Camino,350 Eng. picked up a set of ramps and the rest is simple,removed the starter,had to move the tranny line over a bit and bingo it's in, sounds great."
Pros: all good.every thing fit
Cons: the black paint,dont last long

"I haven't ran my car yet, (79 Ford F-150: 5.0 302), but in order to bolt the headers on...i had to take out the starter, the support bar on the way to the trans (from the front of the truck), and disconnect the clutch. even with all that, the paint still got scratched up, and messed up.
I'm not sure if you are buying these for the paint job...(i wasn't, so it didn't bother me) but in my car at least, it's not gonna survive.
the directions were fairly ambiguous. and not tailored to your vehicle, even though they are "custom fitted". i had to install the passenger side header from under the car which had to be jacked up, like the directions said. but i had to install the drivers side from up top, while those were supposed to be installed from the bottom as well.
I bought the heartthrob exhaust kit made specifically for long tube headers...and now the kit doesn't fit because the collecters on the headers sit too low, and the outreaching pipes can't clear the transmission support bar.
Over all, these are a so-so buy, again for my type of vehicle at least. the effort put in is absolutely ridiculous, and it's now thrown off the rest of my purchase. I wouldn't recommend buying these if you have the same vehicle as me, but im sure they work for other people."
Pros: Look good, everything is aligned right. bolt holes match up. nothing was missing.
Cons: BARELY fit. plus now, my exhuast pipes don't fit.
