Good solution to a poor design,

"I ordered two of these mirrors for driver and passenger side doors. I found it easiest just to remove the old and cracked OEM unit. This left painted metal and about 5 holes through the door to try to mount the new mirrors. None of the original holes fit the black plastic piece on the new mirror and I found it best to just remove this piece and use the screw mounted on the ball/swivel to attach through the door, along with the very large washer to support it on the inside of the door. FYI, the ball/swivel allows this mirror to bend back when hit or pushed, unlike the original mirror. The new mirrors are very close to the door now, but give the car a very sleek look. I haven't figured out a solution to the space that used to be covered by the old plastic unit, but it all works great, since the rubber boot part covers it all up to the metal door. The mirror on the passenger side has to be moved to an extreme down and especially inward position to be used by the driver, since the ball/swivel part is so short. You can't beat the price on these and mine are still unbroken after 6 months. I was previously losing one OEM mirror every 6 months when my Metro was parked at Walmart."
Pros: Great replacement for a Geo Metro, but customize it to work best for you.

"They look very good, and are quit easyy to install except for one thing. The mounting screws provided are the wrong size and type.
The original are machine thread and are torx type screws. The ones provided are a metal screw type thread and phillips in type.
Be sure to use the factory screws as the ones provided are smaller and wont work without drilling new holes."
