BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an important constituent of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) Process, which is used in meeting strict EPA 2010 regulations by most medium and heavy-duty engine builders.
This diesel exhaust fluid is non-toxic, composed of 67.5% purified water and 32.5% ultra pure automotive grade urea. BlueDEF does not work as a fuel or fuel additive. When injected into the exhaust system, it breaks down the harmful gas NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) to nitrogen gas and water vapor to render it safe for the environment.
BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid is stable, colorless, and odorless. It meets the ISO standards 22241 for purity and composition and BlueDEF is certified diesel exhaust fluid by the American Petroleum Institute (API). By meeting the highest quality and safety standards, BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid guarantees maximum SCR performance.
Making sure that you will not run out of BlueDEF™ in a SCR equipped truck is really simple. Monitor the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) gauge, a part of the diesel fuel gauge to know when you need to refill.
DEF is stored in a dedicated tank next to the fuel tank on the driver's side. These tanks vary in size from 6-23 gallons depending on vehicle application. The DEF tank features a fill opening that accommodates a DEF fill nozzle to make sure that the only the diesel exhaust fluid is put inside the tank. A diesel fuel nozzle is will not fit the DEF tank opening.
