Ease of Use/Installation:
"This knob matches the interior of my black Mazda 6 very well. It looks better in my car than I expected based on the picture.
It fits the shifter knob well also, but not perfectly. I think the way most of the aftermarket shifter knobs work is they have a set of plastic adapters with a variety of internal diameters to fit over a variety of diameter shift sticks but have a single external diameter that fits the knob. The bottom of the metal base is threaded and removes exposing 3 (4?) set screws that fix the knob to the plastic adapter.
In the case of my car, the knob left about a quarter inch of thread exposed between the bottom of the knob and the shifter boot. I fixed that by cutting the top off the adapter plasted, so I could push the knob farther down onto the shaft, and it fits really quite well know, but the interface between the boot and know still is certainly not seamless. I don't mind, I wanted a new knob because the stitching on the old knob was pretty sharp and bothered my hands.
On a hot day, the aluminum base and metal top are too hot to touch, but the leather band around the top is adequate to shift with.
It feels like it is on pretty securely, but it spins rather easily, so I don't know how long that will last - maybe forever, who knows.... But it won't screw off, thread doesn't hold the knob on any more, like with the OEM knob, the set screws hold it on."

"This review is for the Brushed Nickel Iridium Shift Knob with the Black Leather top.
I installed on a 2003 Mazda 6 manual.
I picked this knob up for 8 bucks when it was on sale. I probably wouldn't pay more for it after installing it. The product is solid, looking good and adding a nice look to the interior of my car. However, when installing the knob, it became apparent that it doesn't mount as low on the shift lever as the stock knob. Therefore, there is a large gap between the knob and the shift boot. I compensated for this by creating a spacer that mounts under the shift boot on the lever that raises the boot considerably higher. I was then left with an ugly top of the shift boot showing, from where the stock knob had covered it before. So I found a nice stainless steel cap. It had a 3/8in hole to fit the shift lever and a nice flange at the edge to go down over my spacer under the boot. Overall, I am pleased with how it looks, but not by the amount of extra work I had to put into it. I've put an image up as well..."
Cons: Install is lousy. Lighter than stock shift knob.
