"Perfect upgrade for a Honda Rebel 250cc's ridiculous OEM headlight!! I paired it with item# ZX312145-7" H4 HI/LO XENON HEADLIGHT on my '99 Rebel, and the result is awesome! Very little modification was required to mount the housing- anyone at all handy with tools could do it. Item is heavy & well-made, and looks terrific! I'm a very very happy Rebel Rider with my new headlight!"

"I broke the pathetic, 35W/50W sealed beam headlight on my 1983 Kawasaki 440 LTD, and if a replacement were available, it would cost me $120 for the oh-so-dim lamp! I found this product, and the previous review, and I decided this was the way to go. This mount will hold a standard, 7" automotive headlight. I bought a Halogen, sealed beam lamp, for $11, and it fit perfectly. I had to rig my own custom mount, to mate this shell to my Kawasaki, though. Here is what I did, and you can do it, too, and save yourself a lot of money (Thanks, JC Whitney!):
I bought some flat steel bar, with uniform holes pre-drilled, along its entire length, from my local DIY store (check Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.), and I cut it long enough to form a U-shape to bolt into the front fork of my bike. I enlarged the bolt holes on the ends, to fit the mounting bolts on my bike's fork, then I enlarged the mounting hole for the headlight, in the middle of the U-shape I had formed out of the bar. I discovered that the mounting bolt, on the bottom of the headlight shell, is a carriage bolt, with a square portion, on the top. The square part pulls out, and hits the bar I was using, preventing the assembly from locking into position, so I used my moto-tool to cut out a square opening, in a large steel spacer washer, which allowed the carriage bolt to 'lock' into place, allowing me to tighten up the headlight assembly to the U-shaped mounting bar. The bar was too flexible, however, and caused the light to vibrate. I solved this by doubling the U-shaped bar, and I added my own carriage bolts (four of them, two on each side of the centered mounting hole) to lock the two U-shaped bars together, as one. I cut the excess length of the carriage bolts down to size, after I applied locking washers, and nuts. I then painted the entire mounting bar assembly gloss black, bolted it into place on the bike's front fork, and mounted the light. I also wired in a HEADLIGHT DAYTIME MODULATOR (P/N: ZX265360), with an illuminated toggle switch, to bypass it for night-time driving. I drilled the mounting hole for the toggle switch, into the top of the headlight housing. There was plenty of room within the shell for the Modulator, and its wiring. The whole thing works well, shines a brilliant amount of light on the road, and really makes me that much more visible to other drivers. By using this headlight assembly, I can use any standard automotive headlight (use single headlight system lamps: these have both Hi/Lo filaments in them), and I can see more of the roadway. I saved a lot of money with this headlight assembly, and I was able to get my old bike back on the road, without trolling for unavailable replacement parts. Thanks again, JC Whitney!"
Pros: Great quality, wiring harness included.
Cons: Requires custom mount fabrication in most cases.

"I bought this to use in conjunction with item# ZX139314A 7" H4 bulb. The housing looks great. The chrome is very bright with no imperfections that I can see. Quite impressed for the cost. I had to drill out the rivets holding the mounting bracket because it wasn't going to work with my bike (an '85 Honda Rebel 250) but I knew this going into it. I was able to attach the stock bracket just fine. The headlight bucket was deep enough to hold two relays that I wired in to keep from overloading the stock switches and wires with room to spare.
The included wiring harness was great, as I needed one. The hole the housing has to run the wires through is in the center back of the housing. It would have been nice if it was lower, but it worked. Has a rubber grommet to keep the wires from wearing through. Looks great, functions great, and is a great price. I would recommend to all!"
