UNIVERSAL AND HEAVY-DUTY CYCLE DRIVE CHAINS
  • Pre-stretched to minimize initial stretch
  • Choose universal or heavy-duty (refer to chart at left for how to measure replacement chain)
  • Solid roller-drive chains with strong-heat treated, shot-peened components
Include the master link and requires breaking for a custom fit (chain breaker not included). Order by chain size (usually found on master link) and number of links.
How To Determine Number of Chain Links: There's an easy way to find out using any of the 3 methods below. For greatest accuracy, it's best to start counting at the master connecting link. Marking that link will prevent double counting. Remember, the number of links will always be an even number.
  1. Count all rollers. The number of rollers equals number of links.
  2. Count all pins on one side of chain. The number of pins equals number of links.
  3. Starting with the master connecting link (counted as "1"), count all outer side plates on one side of chain. Double that number equals the number of links (e.g., 48 outer side plates equals 96 chain links).

Wish they'd list tensile strength

"Terrific price on chain which, from all accounts here and on the net, is OK stuff.
Still, I wish JCW would give tensile strength or CC/HP ratings for it so we'd know if it is suitable for larger bikes.
Most Japanese chain manufacturers rate their ordinary chain for up to 250cc and their Heavy Duty/solid roller for up to 400cc. But if you look up their tensile strength, the name brand heavy duty non sealed ones typically are rated at 6600 to 7500 psi tensile, which is plenty for anything but the very largest bikes. But its hard to say about this stuff, since it is Taiwanese, not Japanese, and of unknown manufacturer and specs."
Pros: price
Cons: buyer has no idea what it is

"I bought this 520H chain for my XR650L Honda.
IT's strong enough for any size bike that comes made with any kind 520 chain.
This is the only chain I bought for All my bikes
35 years ago. IT rocked Than, And it rocks Now!!
When you buy it, oil it befor you ride it!
don't let the grease on it fool you when you take it out of the box. keep it oiled up with 90 or 100 weight gear oil. don't let it dry out!!!
peace out.

"Having used many different brands of chains over the years, I have to say that I'm happy with this universal chain. No, it's not a O-ring chain, and I don't expect that sort of performance. But it does work very well, and the price of the chain makes it easy on the wallet. I was expecting a little less stretch initially, but since my initial install it's worked well. I now have about 5,000 miles on the chain, and it should probably be good for another 2,000 or so miles."
Pros: You can't beat a chain that costs under $30!
Cons: Initial stretch was a little more than I expected. Master clip fits somewhat loosely.
