Designed to enhance awareness of motorcycle headlight illumination in accordance with Federal Standard 49 CFR Part 571.108 S7.9.4. Please also note that this item is legal in all 50 states. An external disable switch (not included) is used to disable the modulation function during nighttime driving. During the day it flashes the headlamp every 1/10th of a second. Essentially functions as a 2-terminal device that is connected in series with the power feed to the light. This safety device has been designed for motorcycle use, to provide additional awareness to other vehicles on the road during daylight hours. The rate of modulation is 200 to 280 cycles per minute, with maximum power being applied to the headlight for 50 to 70% of each cycle. During the low intensity portion of the cycle, power to the headlight is held to no less than 17% of maximum intensity. Incandescent lamp power rating of 120-Watts. The output circuit is a solid state switching transistor. Input voltage of 11 to 16-Volts (standard automotive range). Composed of glass reinforced black Lexan plastic, epoxy encapsulated for maximum protection against moisture and vibration. Two 1/4" quick-connect male terminals. Single hole mounting or 2 hole panel mount available at extra cost. Operates at a temperature range of -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F). Dimensions: 1-3/4"W x 7/8"H x 1-1/8"L. "installed this on my 1979 h-d . install on high beam could bearly tell it was working , hook in up to low beam seamed a little beter but to a disapointment."

"Once had a soccer mom (SUV) turn left in front of me after I passed the crosswalk line at 35 mph (Head on CRASH). Now I ride with Hi-Beams ON with the MODULATOR on and flashing. Now I see they just STOP and LOOK twice. This is a MUST HAVE, save your life."

Not bad, but not amazing,

Pros: Easy to install, gets attention

"My friend and I both installed these on our 81 Yamahas. The plug-in type was way too expensive for us and we want to be as careful as possible when riding. With a wire terminal kit, a bypass switch, and a couple feet of wire from Advance Auto Parts we had these installed in both bikes in about an hour. It can be tricky but you will need to find a convenient location for the bypass switch. My main problem with this unit is that it claims to flash every 1/10 of a second but in reality it's only flashing about twice per second. It does work and it gets your attention but it's not like a police strobe or anything. I would have liked it to be as fast as it claims to be."
