$38.48Whether you’re driving a race car or a motorcycle, practicing safety precautions is a must. Along with the development of different safety equipments for driving comes the invention of helmets. Due to the rise of motorcycle accidents, most states have now undertaken efforts to increase responsibility among riders. Imagine, there was a reported 69.33 fatality rate per 100,000 registered motorcycles back in the year 2004. You wouldn’t want to be part of that, right? That’s why helmets are now a staple for riders.
It’s clear that using motorcycle helmets is a must. Now here comes the tricky part ??oosing the right one for you. Aside from its design and price, there’s also other things you must consider according to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. First, you must inspect its construction. Helmets come in three types: full-face, three-quarter open-face, and shorty half-helmet. If it’s maximum protection that you are looking for, opt for the first type. If you have goggles and a face shield on hand, you can get the second type since the coverage of its protection won’t be an issue with you anyway. You can get those where motorcycle helmet accessories are sold. On the other hand, using open face helmets is not advisable, since it provides very little coverage and does not help that much during accidents.
Lastly, consider its fit. Get one that fits perfectly on your head and does not affect your peripheral vision. Also check with your local dealer if it meets the standards set by the Department of Transportation. When all that is covered, you have nothing left to do but enjoy the ride.
