" Needed something to block the wind so I ordered the S-08. Took half hour to put on. Another 4-5 hours to adjust over 3-days. Works best when raked to the limit. Story of adjusting over 3days. ..... With < 600-miles I was limited to 3,500 RPM. Although I did brief periods of 55-60 at 4,000 RPM just to test the shield. Especially going up the mile stretch of 7-degree slope. Liked that it kept the brute force of wind off chest/neck. Next day read article to keep angle same as fork coming up. Did the readjustment came up the same hill. Slowed to 55-MPH in highest gear and noticed I couldn't accelerate with throttle twisted all the way. I think it was to much wind resistance. 3rd day. decided to rake it all the way by cutting the aluminum at the bends. Used hacksaw. Suddenly I could really rake it back to the max. Plus it makes the bike look better. Did the same hill and noticed wind resistance was less even with my helmet sticking way above the top. My helmet seemed to act with one with the shield. Could actually accelerate in high gear to 65. (no cops around#. So I broke out the tube I got from NAPA to lock the screws in place. Had to buy that since a screw fell off on the 2nd day. #bought some nice chrome ones from ACE#. Remember, I had to cut the long rod with two bends so it only had one bend. That made it possible for the rods attached to the fork fit better. I left 1/2 inch above the headlight. But it seems that was not enough for bumpy roads. So I used some of the hard foam with sticky side to keep the shield and headlight from bumping on bumpy roads. Helmet noise stays the same. Not quite. Seems a little quieter. Best riding position is upright like the bike intended. Wind coming around will lift my T-shirt up to my armpits. #Note to self: tuck in shirt when riding). Cons: would be the time it took to experiment and finding that a hacksaw solved all my installation issues on the SR400. Pros: faster. Drier. Less fatigue. Wipe off bugs with soft warm damp cloth. Raked to the max, it looks like it came shipped with the bike. Only wish it came taller with a pointier top. The 20-inches is measured from the top of headlight to tip of top. Another 4" would probably translate into 2" in height. Which would bring top of shield from neck to about nose level. Which according to some is the ideal height. But hey, i can just lean forward a little and do that. So I guess it is perfect for my long torsoed 5-9". Hope this helps all the SR 400 riders looking for a proper windshield. Just cut the upper rods after the bend so it fits in the handlebar holder. "

" I fitted this windscreen to a 1977 Kawasaki KZ400. I tightened it down good. It looks great on the bike!
I bought this windscreen in January of a very cold winter so I have not been able to put many miles on it. 4.5 miles to be exact. a couple of times around the block. Both times after riding it about a mile, several of the mounting parts became very loose. If I would have ridden it for 5 or 10 miles, I'm sure some part of it would have fallen off. If I can't get it to stay tight on the bike, I'll have to return it. I plan to update this review in the spring when I can take a longer ride. In the meantime, I have to give it a poor review because of it's mounting's repeated failure to stay tight. "
