How often do you shop at JC Whitney.com? Multiple Times a Year
"I have owned Wranglers since buying a 1989 model new in February of 1989. I bought a new Unlimited in 2006. I bought a SWB 2006 in late 2009 after the Unlimited was wrecked. I have replaced soft tops several times since about 1994 when the stitching on the original '89 top failed. The difference is that, this time - though I suspect my current Jeep shipped with the "dual top" option - I had to buy the top complete with the bows and other hardware.
After removing the hard top, it took me almost 7.5 hours to install. I MUCH prefer the plastic windshield header from the '06 OEM kit; it worked and installation was definite. The thing does NOT come off after you put screws into it; there is no doubt in your mind that is permanently installed. I "installed" the header on this top at least 4 times before it stayed installed.
The rear bow of the '06 OEM kit was weak; I am glad to see it go. The rear bow in this kit is definitely stronger. However, installing it was a challenge; could the brackets be more like the main pivot brackets? The two tab design together with the misalignment of the tabs made it difficult to install. A single tab, like the main pivots, would have made it easier, I think. I am also unsure how I will like it when the top is folded down as it does not reach to the top of the body tub.
I like the door surrounds. The '06 OEM surrounds made it difficult to install the side windows; these make it a breeze.
Finally, this is the loudest soft top I have ever had on a Jeep. When approaching 50 mph, the wind noise becomes loud enough to challenge the radio or normal conversation. At highway speeds, it takes over the world.
Next time, I'll consider another maker's canvas products."
Pros: Side windows easy to install, door surrounds are good
Cons: Canvas feels thin, rear bow and brackets bad, header installation below par

"One thing you need to know that they do not tell you. If you have an 87-92 wrangler make sure you have the full roll bar. The sport roll bar was popular back then and the top will not fit tight. They are easy to find most anywhere because the convience of the top is great. Also the rep claimed that no soft half doors are available however I called best top and they are available through JC whitney. The only thing you need to do is get the retainer clips from a dealer."

"Great product. Not quite sure what the hang ups were on the install it went in very easy. No extra parts lol. Anyway I just wish it ould have had soft half doors to go on my steel half doors. Other than that great job"
Pros: Easy install... great fit... ez of use
Cons: no tint and no half doors available for my steel halfs

"I love this top. I don't understand some of the reviews that complain about how hard it is to install. We didn't have any trouble installing it at all. It took my husband and I about 3 hours to do the job. (and we were still speaking to eacher when we were done) :) This is so great and so easy to just fold the front part back. I don't like leaving my vehicle wide open all of the time. I can come right out after work and pop open the front part lickety split!"
Pros: VERY easy opening
Cons: Wish it came with option of tinted windows
