"I was pretty excited about the price of these stems for the rear turns signals. Now that excitement has turned to disappointment. The bolt for these stems is at least an inch too long, and there is not enough of it threaded to tighten the stem on the bracket. If more of the shank was threaded, I could have gotten them to work, but another problem is that they are so long that the bolt interferes with the fender. I tried to use a die to add threads to the shank, but the shank requires machining to get to the proper diameter, and I just don't have that much time or the equipment to do that. I'm now working with customer service to see what my 100% satisfaction options are...."

"I recently purchased these front turn signal stems from JC Whitney. They were an exact fit and took only a short time to install. Nothing fancy but they look just like the original stems. Even the seams look like the factory equpment. Also, they cost about half the price I'd seen on a few other sites so I feel i got a good product at a good price."

"Overall very satisfied. Is a direct replacement for the factory stems. Looks Identical. The only minor problem I had was needing to drill out the barrel of the stem to fit my three-wire turn signals. Just grab the stem in a vise, chuck up a minimum of a letter "G" drill and ream it out. very quick and easy fix. You will have to cut the tape or shrink tubing from the wires to fit through the barrel. The wire lengths are staggered which makes it easier. Tape each wire-end to the wire next to it, so that none of the connectors are right next to each other, and tape a thin piece of rod to the last connector, to pull the whole thing through. After you pull the wires through, which will take some wiggling, remember to retape the wires before putting it back on the bike. Took about 45 minutes from start to finish."
"Okay, I bought front & rear stems for my 83 VT750 Shadow. The front ones went on GREAT, didn't have to drill or cut or modify ANYTHING !!!! Just used some electrical tape to wrap everything together while feeding wires and it really didn't take much effort.
On to the rears.....NO WAY !!!! The rubber portion is an EXACT match, BUT the mounting stud is WAY TOO LONG !!!!!! It hits my rear fender. I have a parts bike too and it's the same, the originals are about 1.5" shorter. Definitely a design flaw.
I will have to cut about 1.5" off of the stud and use a metric die to run the threads down further than they are. I double-checked the part # and they are the ones that are SUPPOSED to fit my bike.
Well, I'll make them work, but they are advertised as an EXACT replacement, NOT TRUE with the rears for my bike."
