  • Ford Flex: Trim and Appearance Packages

Introduced in 2008, the Ford Flex has been a leading competitor in the full-size crossover market. Besides its comparatively low price or proven reliability, the Flex has a lot to offer on the table. If you are planning on getting a Ford Flex SUV in the near future, here are some trim and appearance packages you can expect:

    Flex SE

The most basic of the Flex models offered by Ford, the Flex SE comes with fundamental features at a much affordable cost. This variant\'s key selling point is its 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine, which is capable of producing more than 280 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft of torque-making it ideal for demanding towing applications. But despite its remarkable power output, the engine still manages to rake in a reasonable 16 mpg on the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The engine is also mated to a six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, which allows the driver to shift between a fully automatic transmission and one that copies the characteristics of a stick shift minus the clutch.

Another key feature of the Flex SE is the AdvanceTrac system with Roll Stability Control (RSC). This system harnesses gyroscopic sensors that monitor and adjust for both roll of the vehicle and turning rates. If you corner too quickly or swerve to avoid incoming traffic, for instance, the RSC immediately applies brake pressure and reduces engine power to ensure that you retain full control over the vehicle. The AdvanceTrac system also incorporates a trailer sway control that works with the RSC to apply precise braking or adjust engine torque according to the sway of the trailer. Other key features include personalized MyKey remote key technology and a reverse steering alarm system.

    Flex SEL

For those looking for a bit more style and amenities, the Flex SEL has got you covered. The SEL has the same features found in the bare-bones Flex SE, but it also comes with a couple of interesting bells and whistles. SEL owners can lock or unlock their SUV\'s doors without the need for a physical key, thanks to its intelligent access and push button start system. And once inside, you can step on the brake pedal and push the Start button to switch on the engine. The SEL also features a multi-panel Vista Roof composed of four skylights with shades.

In addition to convenience, the SEL also offers an appearance package upgrade. This package includes unique finish trim and Shadow Black-painted grille center bar and liftgate appliquéleather-trimmed seats with perforated leather inserts, and 20-inch painted high-gloss black painted wheels. SEL buyers also have the option to choose between a black and monochromatic color roof.

    Flex Limited

If you want to make the most out of the Flex crossover, the Flex Limited is highly recommended for you. This Limited edition packs exclusive features including a rear view camera that automatically displays the rear of the vehicle while in reverse, a 12-speaker audio system, and a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine that combines excellent fuel mileage with a remarkable 365 horsepower output. For its appearance package, buyers can avail of Shadow Black-painted exterior mirrors, 12-inch high-gloss black painted wheels, and leather seats with black beltline molding.
