Whether it's the dashboard, console, or the upholstery of the seats, keeping the interiors of your vehicle clean is definitely a must. Taking the time to clean it is not only hygienic and healthy, but it's also a good way to impress that special lady friend when you take her out on a date. But let's face it, cleaning the car can be quite a drag, especially if you're someone who's always on the go. Good thing there are now tons of interior cleaners available in the market that can make your life a whole lot easier. Apart from that, you can also use some household items to get your ride the cleaning that it needs. Here are some of the things that you need to consider before you clean your vehicle.

Buying the Right Interior Cleaner for Your Vehicle

When looking at commercial cleaners for your vehicle, here are three of the most important things to remember before making your purchase.

1. Protect the material of your ride.

The various components that make up your vehicle's interiors are made using different kinds of materials. The most common types of materials found inside a vehicle are wood, leather, rubber, fabric, and vinyl. Before you buy a commercial cleaner for your ride, keep in mind that some chemicals might be harmful to particular materials. Always double-check and read the label carefully to ensure that the cleaner will not ruin the car's cabin.

2. Consider the smell.

Before purchasing an interior cleaner, make sure you like its scent to avoid getting sick in your own vehicle. Be wary as well of your allergies and make sure that the cleaner that you'll buy will not trigger them and cause you problems while you drive.

Be wise with the price.

Interior cleaners typically cost less than $50, so they won't hurt your budget. However, make sure you buy from a reputable brand to get your money's worth.

Some Household Items as Interior Cleaner Alternatives

If you don't have time to buy a commercial cleaner or if you just want to keep it natural, here are some common household items that you can use to clean your car.

1. Leather - When it comes to a vehicle's leather components, you can use one part vinegar with two parts linseed oil to wipe it clean. You can also use equal parts of rubbing alcohol and water to remove mold or mildew. For stains, you can use toothpaste, non-acetone nail polish, or aerosol hairspray to rub it off. Don't forget to use lint-free cloth when wiping or rubbing leather.

2. Carpet - Apart from using a vacuum cleaner, you also use a mixture of clove, cinnamon, and baking soda with 3 quarts of hot water, a cup of vinegar, and two teaspoons of castile soap to remove stubborn stains.

3. Cloth - Stained cloth can be hard to clean. However, if you rub butter onto it and leave it under the sun for a few days, the stain can be washed off easily using warm water and soap. You can also use hairspray by applying some on the stain and wiping it off using damp cloth.
