Jeep CJ5 Safety Issues Addressed with Recalls
The Jeep CJ5 has various issues, which affect vehicle handling and safety. It\'s not only the manufacturer\'s responsibility to ensure your safety but yours too, and you can do this by thoroughly examining your vehicle for the commonly reported defects. Compare and verify with other Jeep CJ5 models as well as with your owner\'s manual to make sure that there is indeed a component mismatch.
Loss of transmission fluid due to improper transmission adapter plate seal placement
Not being able to control your own vehicle is a serious safety risk that made the CJ5 recalls possible. The transmission fluid, in the first place, shouldn\'t be decreasing in level and its lowering quantity is a sign enough that something is wrong. The usual culprit for the loss of transmission fluid is leak, but this wasn\'t the case in the CJ5s. The transmission fluid was gradually being transferred from the transmission to the transfer case, leaving the transmission deprived of the fluid, which caused shifting issues. The issue was later attributed to the improper transmission adapter plate seal placement.
A quick fix to this would be to keep an eye on the transmission fluid level and make sure that it gets refilled regularly. It\'s going to be a lot of work.checking up on it frequently.but it will prevent your transmission from getting deprived of transmission fluid. Also, driving at high speeds should be avoided until the problem has been properly addressed to avoid experiencing a transmission malfunction in the middle of the road.
If the electrical system in a vehicle is compromised, then there\'s a huge possibility that the electronic control of the engine ignition would also be affected. Because of faulty wire connectors on CJ5s, an interruption in the electrical relay causes the engine to hesitate or stall, leaving a motorist stranded in traffic. If this happens, the wiring should be immediately fixed because no one can really tell when it would occur again.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which is the onboard computer and the brain of the engine system, can also be affected if an electrical problem occurs. If the solenoid or actuator circuit is shorted, then voltage overloads can happen and can kill the PCM. If the engine is acting up, it would be best to do a scan and identify if the PCM is experiencing troubles to be able to address them quickly.
Seat belt mismatch
If an accident cannot be avoided, the safety features of a vehicle are expected to prevent grave damage to both the car and its passengers. And one of those is the set of vehicle seat belts. Some of the CJ5s have mismatched rear seat belts, which make it impossible to fasten together. Because instead of having the buckle end and tongue-end assemblies, a compromised CJ5 only has the tongue-end seat belt assemblies on the rear seats. This may not affect the Jeep\'s performance, but it sure is a safety risk. It would be wise to avoid getting people on the rear seats before the issue has been resolved.
