The Lexus RX350 was crafted by Toyota\'s luxury sub-brand to be an entry to the mid-size crossover SUV category. It was first introduced to the automotive market in 1997. But before that, the people behind Toyota and Lexus were already toying around the idea of doing a hybrid out of a luxury sedan and a sport-utility vehicle. They had come to believe that building this kind of vehicle over a monocoque chassis and unique design would be a game changer. Fast forward to almost two decades after its launch, the 4th generation RX 350 flaunts a distinct appeal that is both aggressive and stylish.
For the current generation of the RX 350, there are three available variants offered in the market. These are the standard front-wheel drive RX 350, the all-wheel drive, and the all-wheel drive F Sport. All three models get their power from the 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 engine with VVT-i. The block has the capacity of producing 295 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. More than that, it passes the Euro 6 emission standards. That much output allows the crossover SUV to reach speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. Mated to the V6 block is an 8-speed automatic transmission. This allows the vehicle to achieve considerable speed without putting too much stress on the engine components. The owner can also choose from the Normal, Eco, and Sport S mode to full-match driving styles. With this combination, the RX 350 can achieve 26 to 28 mpg on the highway and 19-20 mpg on city driving.
Aside from performance features, the RX 350 also needs to look appealing to the eyes. This goes both to the owner and the people looking at it. Being meticulous with the appearance can actually speak a lot about the relationship between man and machine. There are 10 available exterior paint swatches including different shades of gray and white, as well as blue, red, and black.
To complement the outside appearance are the interior colors and trims. The standard options are the black and Stratus Gray leather paired with Scored Aluminum trims. But in select RX 350 variants, wood grain trims are also available along with other swatches of leather to complement it. Among these shades are the Parchment, Noble Brown, Black NuLuxe, and Rioja Red.
After sorting out the initial details, there are other things that can be chosen to improve the overall value and driving experience of the crossover SUV. The additional packages include power moon roof, F Sport steering wheel, navigation and audio consoles, premium headlights, safety systems, and towing packages. Beyond that, standard headlights can be replaced with triple-beam LED version to improve lighting on the road. The potential owner can also opt to avail color heads-up display, intuitive parking assist, panorama glass room, running boards, cargo mat, and many other accessories to make the best out of the RX 350.
