The Nissan Armada is a fairly recent addition to the long list of powerful rigs in the brand\'s current line-up. The sturdy full-size SUV gets the same chassis being used in the Titan, Xterra, Frontier, and Pathfinder. Choosing the F-Alpha platform is already a clear indicator that this vehicle really means business. The decade-long run of its first generation seemed to be an interesting one in the American market. More recently, Nissan decided to give people more reasons to appreciate the nameplate. Here\'s a look at what the Armada has to offer.
For a full-size SUV, a very capable power plant should be in order to be able to carry out tasks with ease. Things like vehicle weight, intended applications and drivability are all factored in when creating the best powertrain combination for it. The system should somehow strike a balance between performance and efficiency. This will help prospective buyers into rationalizing the value of getting one.
The Nissan Armada gets its power from the Endurance 5.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine. This engine block can deliver up to 317 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 385 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 rpm. It features the Nissan Direct Ignition System and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System. The block is then mated to the standard 5-speed automatic transmission with the option to include the All-Mode 4WD with 2-speed transfer case. With that combination, the Armada can achieve 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
Beyond performance, the Nissan Armada should also be able to provide ample space for passengers and cargo. All of the trims of the Nissan Armada are designed to sit eight passengers comfortably. It has a total of 127.3 cu. ft. worth of cabin space. The good thing about the second and third row seats in the Amada is they are configurable to allot more room for cargo if needed. If all seats are in user positions, there will be 20 cu. ft. worth of cargo capacity. When the second row is upright while the third row is folded, there is a 56.7-cu. ft. space. And finally, when the second row is folded flat with the third row folded as well, there will be a 97.1 cu. ft. cargo space.
An important factor that marks up the value of the vehicle is the passenger safety it can provide. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given the Nissan Armada a 3-star rating for the rollover test. However, it has not been tested yet for the frontal and side crashes. Looking at the bright side, this large SUV is loaded with air bags on the front and sides. These safety features will be deployed from different areas of the vehicle during collisions. Other standard safety equipment includes the Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, Active Brake Limited Slip, Hood buckling creases and safety stops, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. There are a few other features that still come in standard to ensure the welfare of the driver and the passengers.
